Flower Fridays I

  • Oregon School of Art 2185 Southwest Park Place Portland, OR, 97205 United States (map)

Come escape into a world of plants, flowers, berries, and grasses in this hands-on class focused on botanical illustration! Students will explore the beauty of natural forms through drawing and painting with pencils, watercolors, and a fudenosukebrush pen.

We’ll study both simple and complex compositions—capturing the delicate details of botanical specimens as well as crafting imaginative, free-form floral arrangements. Emphasis will be placed on using expressive, gestural strokes that bring life and movement to your work while staying true to the botanical subject.

Through guided practice, students will learn techniques for allowing color to blend organically on the page, creating elegant, dynamic paintings. Projects include individual plant studies, autumnal bouquets, and seasonal wreaths—perfect for both beginners and experienced artists looking to deepen their botanical art practice.
